A collection of images of Christ the King, a symbol in many if not most Christian communities whether Catholic, Orthodox or Protestant. The Solemnity of Christ the King is celebrated on the last Sunday of the liturgical year before All Saints in the Roman Catholic Church. The feast was instituted in the encyclical Quas Primas by Pope Pius XI in 1925. The stated intent was to emphasize the kingship of Christ over all mankind. Christ the King has also been an important icon in many religious and counterrevolutionary movements around the world and was particularly prominent in the "Cristero war" in Mexico.
